"Airlines are doing their best to stay afloat as they perform the vital task of linking the world’s economies," he said."As governments look to stimulus measures, the airline industry will need consideration for relief on taxes, charges and slot allocation."A flight attendant on a near-empty Myanmar National airlines flight from Yangon to Suvarnabhumi International airport, March 4, 2020 during the flight.

Many major U.S. carriers including Delta, United and American have suspended or canceled flights to the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong for weeks amid the outbreak. The suspensions soon extended to South Korea, and many carriers also announced they were issuing travel waivers for elsewhere.

Let’s hope we taxpayers are not forced to bail the Airline Industry out!

It’s hard for me to sympathize with an industry that sometimes charges me $30 to fly home and other times charges me $600.

Sure doesn't look good for the future of the flying public!

I wonder what SouthPark’s Mr. Garrison would think about all this

Bigger issue=viral pandemic

And yet today I flew to Maui (home) and the plane was %60 full and everyone was happy about their cheap tickets and thankful that idiots watch too much tv and they’re in paradise on the cheap! Next week I think I’ll go to Venice again but this time for $200

Thanks, Trump. Thanks, Pence. coronavirus Covid19usa

Not to worry. Our government will be there to bail them out with our money (or my kids money anyways).

So it is as bad as I thought ? And it is worse then what they have been telling us? Bankkkk 🏃‍♀️ coming?

The airline industry has experienced high profits in the past. They reduced seating space to put more people on planes. I don't want to see people lose jobs, but the airline industry has been called out several times for excessive pricing & extra fees. Maybe this will open 👀.

airlines suck anyway

Delta made 4.77 billion in 2019 & 3.9 billion in 2018. This is just ONE airliner who's been in business & RAKING IT IN for how long? They were founded in 1925. It's not going to hurt them to take a hit one year, especially if it saves lives.

Keep hyping public fear and they probably will. Are you shorting them? This is beyond ridiculous. fearmongeringfakenewswhores

Martial law by U.N. 1st step restrict movement

No question the price tag of this coming Corona Pandemic will be very High!

I hope not...no...i wish not

They better start slashing prices.

Airlines could take $113 billion hit as coronavirus slams travel industryGlobal airlines could lose $113 billion in sales if the coronavirus continues to spread, according to the International Air Transport Association. The losses would be similar to those experienced by the industry during the global financial crisis of 2008. Sue China for the lost!!! I’m surprised they don’t have billions stashed away after charging passengers ridiculous prices for baggage for years.
