Destination North Coast General Manager Michael Thurston says his local industry has taken a significant hit from “the consolidation of all the crises we have faced over the last four months”

Destination North Coast General Manager Michael Thurston says his local tourism industry has taken a significant hit from “the consolidation of all the crises we have faced over the last four months”.

Mr Thurston said those within Australia’s tourism sector are concerned the government won’t deliver the multi-million dollar package promised to communities hit by the bushfires, but will instead divert funds towards fighting the coronavirus outbreak. “We receive over 14 million visitors each year,” Mr Thurston told Sky News host Peter Gleeson. However the severity and length of crises experienced on the north coast has resulted in a “huge loss for businesses” and large impact on “visitation”.
