BEIJING - A Chinese company says it has developed the country’s first facial recognition technology that can identify people when they are wearing a mask, as most are these days because of the coronavirus, and help in the fight against the disease.
Now Hanwang Technology Ltd, which also goes by the English name Hanvon, said it has come up technology that can successfully recognize people even when they are wearing masks. The team began work on the system in January, as the coronavirus outbreak gathered pace, and began rolling it out to the market after just a month.
“When wearing a mask, the recognition rate can reach about 95%, which can ensure that most people can be identified,” Huang said, adding the success rate for people without mask is about 99.5%.A big customer, not surprisingly, is the Ministry of Public Security, which runs the police.

When are the Chinese people going to say enough is enough? Why is the rest of the world not standing up to the Chinese, instead of cowardly accepting their money? We should all be ashamed.

Great, lm sure they will use this technology responsibly😐
Seems like they’ve got their priorities straight. My middle finger says hi!
Because this is more important than actually finding a cure for this thing. Maybe to recognize victims
So I guess China recovered from the Corona virus and back to it old self again..
If that's powerful as they said, why the virus from Wuhan still go all around the world? If that's intentional, the world should declare war to China.
Man, every headline seems like it's from a dystopian novel. 'Authoritarian government finds new ways to track you while your wearing your plague protective gear' My Lord.
Not good because the chief demonstrators in Hong Kong are disappearing and taken away in the middle of the night. From facial recognition and wearing mask?
