Elon Musk worries SpaceX won’t get to Mars before he dies

An exhausted-looking Elon Musk said Monday he’s unsure his rocket company SpaceX will accomplish its foundational mission -- getting to Mars -- before he dies.

The 48-year-old chief executive of both Tesla Inc. and Space Exploration Technologies Corp. downplayed the level of attention the closely held company is paying to arrange an initial public offering for Starlink, the satellite business within SpaceX. The plan for the business is to beam broadband to consumers who don’t have the internet, or struggle with slower service, starting this year.

But does it really matter? Before or after Mars, one does not take anything, any memory, any wealth, any power, absolutely nothing with them when it is the end.

Meanwhile I’m just trying to get to Applebee’s before happy hour is over.

Better to dream big and get halfway there as opposed to dreaming small and getting nowhere. But believe me you inspired enough people that all your dreams will come true and I personally believe you will indeed retire on Mars . I prefer California but you do you. I dream big too.
