Worried that your iPhone is a coronavirus transmission vector? Apple now says you can clean it with isopropyl alcohol wipes or Clorox disinfecting wipes

Using a 70 percent isopropyl alcohol wipe or Clorox Disinfecting Wipes, you may gently wipe the hard, nonporous surfaces of your Apple product, such as the display, keyboard, or other exterior surfaces. Don't use bleach. Avoid getting moisture in any opening, and don't submerge your Apple product in any cleaning agents. Don't use on fabric or leather surfaces.

The company notes that you shouldn’t use disinfecting wipes or isopropyl alcohol wipes on leather or cloth surfaces and that raises a good point. Now would be the time to swap your leather iPhone case for something a little more utilitarian. A polycarbonate case may not have quite the same warmth or look as leather, but it can be easily popped off and thoroughly washed with soap and water without fear of damage.

No word on whether Apple’s new cleaning instructions are permanent, but you’re now covered in terms of keeping your iPhone safe to handle for the duration of the coronavirus outbreak.

LMT978 Is the new iPhone going to be autoclave safe?

Best iPhone UV-C sanitizer Just place your phone inside 5 min UV sanitized. No chemicals I use it everyday!

Vox_Democracy They’re late to the party.

****You are probably fine using a soapy cloth and letting it dry**** Apple doesn't recommend using alcohol (often the active ingredient in disinfectant wipes) or other cleaners and solvents, since they could potentially damage the oil-resistant coating on the iPhone and iPad.

They will start selling it as iWipe at $499 only

Yea. I’ve been doing this for years.

LMT978 Pure alcohol will do it, ethanol is good, propanol, too. Or just put it in your washing machine, smooth programme but with a bleach. 1 hour should suffice. Tumble dry at 800 rpm, not too fast! Will even remove all the malware and 'maintenance' backdoors!

I been on this wave apple y’all late regardless of coronavirus do you how much germs your phone carries and this face could and would neverrrrrr.. pro tip: ammonia is good as well!

That's what this is for innit
