Worried by the continuous free fall of the price of crude oil on the international market because of the Coronavirus disease, the House of Representatives on Tuesday resolved to set up an ad hoc committee to examine the phenomenon.

The committee is to examine the negative effect of COVID 19 on the prices of crude oil and how it affects the benchmark of the 2020 budget passed by the National Assembly. The resolution was sequel to the passage of a motion of urgent national Importance by Chairman of House committee on Finance, Rep. James Faleke.

Faleke, while moving the short motion, which was well received by members, noted that the disease was affecting other countries as well. According to him, it will have an effect on the Appropriation passed by the House, adding that the federal government may not even be able to pay salaries….

Is there anything our leaders will not set up committee for? Even when people are killed on daily basis, committee is set up instead of doing the needful and be proactive. I wonder when we'll grow like other nations. Nigeria is in trouble really.
