More than two dozen people involved in the horse racing industry have been indicted for taking part in a scheme to give racehorses performance-enhancing drugs to help them win races around the world, federal prosecutors say

One of the defendants is trainer Jason Servis, who prosecutors say"doped virtually all horses under his control," including Maximum Security, the colt that crossed the finish line first at last year's Kentucky Derby but was disqualified for interference. Last month, Maximum Security won $10 million in the inaugural Saudi Cup.

Drugs that were used could increase red blood cell count, increase stamina and endurance, relieve pain and reduce joint inflammation, according to the indictment."What actually happened to the horses amounted to nothing less than abuse," Sweeney said."They experienced cardiac issues, overexertion leading to leg fractures, increased risk of injury and, in some cases, death.

I always thought that horse racing was rigged just like the NFL, NBA, & MLB...

Sure do remember as a 👧 in the paddock with em during late 60’s 🐎 got lasix 💉 before the race’s 😢 didn’t know it could be used in a bad way against such beautiful creatures, when they go down Its so sad if they gethurt:quit winning unless they Secretariat or Seabiscuit 🏇

DUH......Been going on for years....

Why couldn’t the pony sing? He was just a little hoarse.

Sounds like they give them same stuff bicycle racers take.
