The Trump administration is working with the cruise and airline industries that have been battered by the coronavirus outbreak, the president said Tuesday in a meeting with hospital CEOs and insurance industry executives.

Evan Vucci/APPresident Trump speaks Tuesday at a meeting at the White House with health care company executives.President Trump said Tuesday his administration was working with the cruise and airline industries that have been battered by the coronavirus outbreak, as he prepared to travel to Capitol Hill to meet with Senate Republicans to talk about plans to stimulate the economy in the midst of the health crisis.

Travel stocks have been hard hit by the uncertainty over the coronavirus, which has led to conferences to canceled, universities to close and and travel to some nations restricted or barred. On Monday, the president said he'd unveil unspecified"dramatic" policies to counter the economic effects of the outbreak that has sent shivers through the global economy as entire national regions and indeed nations have enforced lockdowns to stem the spread of the disease.

Among the steps he's expected to call for is a cut in the payroll taxes American workers have deducted from their paychecks to pay for Social Security and Medicare. Trump also called on the Federal Reserve Board to further cut interest rates., he said the"pathetic, slow moving" Federal Reserve"should get our Fed Rate down to the levels of our competitor nations. They now have as much as a two point advantage, with even bigger currency help.

Treasury Secretary Steven Manuchin and Larry Kudlow, the director of the National Economic Council, were also expected to brief Republican senators at their weekly lunch Tuesday.

Paying hourly wage people who can't work? Bailing out the travel industry? I will NOT STAND for this SOCIALISM.

Battered like piñatas, right?

“Battered?!”

Coronavirus Talking doesn't help, doing something about it brings results. First step toward stopping Coronavirus is for Trump to step out of his mode of denial and lying. Admit that it's a serious threat to American lives and find means to save lives

Meets with the CEOs of Cos that profit wildly off the for-profit-healthcare industry. Companies which are neither YOU or YOUR DOCTOR, yet get to make healthcare decisions for you. These are the 'important' people to meet with, so profits can be protected...WorstPresidentEver

Trump, CEOs, and insurance companies, what else could go wrong now? We’re doomed.

Why should taxpayers bail out cruise lines? If we want to help the workers that are impacted then send them a check. We don’t need to bail out luxury consumer purchases.

Socialism... JoeBiden needs to be all over this...

Will Democrats put party before country and not seek fiscal stimulus during these economic shocks? Yes they will.

At least he is cogent and can complete sentences. While the Australian Media Mocks American Media & the DNC choice for US president?

More socialism from PresidentofPoopyDiapers

“Hotels” is not part of the headline, but hotel business is definitely part of this bailout. Grifters GrifterInChief

I'm thinking the airline industry is the least deserving of special favors. Maybe we could make sure school-lunch kids still get to eat instead? FFS.

Working with them = 'How can I use you to get more tax cuts for myself?'

Agree to disagree on this foolish decision to bail out the airline and cruise industries. Those industries have been price gouging customers for decades. Many people are unable to afford simple flights from one destination to another. The President favors businesses over people.

Once again the taxpayers will on the hook for all this!

No bail outs. The CEO and stock holders can take a hit and be fine. If not...then too bad.

How about covering citizens related Covid19 expenses instead? Travel businesses can take care of themselves.

Possibly Trump could take a cruise to show his support. 🤞

Here lies realDonaldTrump's one-term presidency... coronavirus

Of course trump wants to protect the hospitality industry. I'm more worried about small business owners - like you have only themselves as an employee! - and freelancers, contract workers, etc., who don't have a regular boss - and not enough $$ saved in their accounts.

realDonaldTrump Families need paid medical leave! Not cruise ships. You have NO medicine. Stop lying! My grandpa has Alzheimer's and he has more cognitive function than you! You were barely conscious at the briefing. Trumpdemic TrumpVirusCoverup 25thAmendmentNow

Cruise ships cause horrific pollution. Let them all sink.

Yeah, bailout big Corporations and screw the public. Great.

Love that Capitalism!

buuuuuut what about the people?!

Here comes some socialism.

And here come the tax payer funded bailouts.

More socialism

But I thought it was a hoax?🙄
