Other supplies to be produced under the industrial plan are sanitization products, diagnostic and testing products, and disease-tracking technology, the government says. “There are people who are talking about historical echoes, whether it was wartime or the Great Depression, we’re focused on what we need to do right now.”
Tam said the country needs to “flatten the curve” to buy time for companies to produce equipment fast enough, and researchers to find a vaccine.
Imagine if our manufacturing industry hadn't been gutted since the signing of NAFTA. Or if the education system hadn't been gutted & people were smart enough to listen. Imagine if our healthcare system hadn't been gutted & we could handle an emergency.
In war times many industries switched from making pots and pans to guns and plane parts. We are at war. If there are companies in Canada that can manufacture products to defend us then let's hope they jump into this fight.
