The UK government is urging people to “be responsible when [they] shop and think of others” as panic-buying continues in response to the coronavirus crisis.

These are the lowest of the low I knew we had these type of people now in our country don’t tellme we are a nation of good people we are a nation to be ashamed off

U.K. built up stocks incase we had a no-deal brexit back in October 2019, so we must have loads of stock. Only reason for hoarding, if there is ever a reason, is if the food supply is disrupted, it’s not. Maybe people plan to hibernate for several months but I doubt it

Après moi, le déluge.

The government needs to step in now, certain people are just SELFISH. I noticed today families out in the parks children playing on swings etc. Families then holding their children's hands after both touched surfaces that others just left.

Maybe a good idea to make mobile pickup points made by large supermarkets in hospitals. This ensures that medical personnel are not faced with empty shelves. In NL this is done by Jumbo.

No there isn't enough food to go round. Thanks to slimeball journalists creating panic. I get my food delivered from Tesco. A LOT of items are unavailable and there are no new delivery slots. Trump was absolutely right. The selfish ones are the slimy, selfish petit bourgeoisie.

Surely the supermarkets could deliver essentials to the hospitals so that healthcare workers don't need to go to the supermarket after a heavy shift.

Appealing to The Guardian to please report coronavirus deaths responsibly! Number of deaths attributed to Covid19 is very exaggerated and inaccurate, causing unnecessary fear and damage. Many dead have serious underlying conditions, and causation has not been proven. Truth please

All press/media should stop showing negative images of empty supermarket shelves, dying virus victims etc. IT IS NOT HELPFUL AND SERVES ONLY TO CAUSE ANXIETY AND PANIC.

That only makes things worse, hope not seeing that in Mexico

People are not going to think unless there are rules. Rationing and fines to people who don't respect distance measures, the sooner the better

I am not going to Tesco‘s anymore! Waitrose anytime!

This is going to become mass infection, same as going to the pub. Or much, much worse. How come in UK no one wear masks? Providing these can be found COVID_19uk

Hello World CoronavirusPandemic

Aren't you people supposed to stay 6 ft. away from each other? MORONS!!!

People panic because governments posture, prevaricate, and procrastinate. The 'advanced economies' had months of warning and what did they do to prepare? Engage in xenophobia and petty nationalism. Why wouldn't people panic?

Idiots !!!!!!!!

Yes, make them work for your lives then leave them no foods. Sounds like a wonderful idea. I can't stop thinking that people like these exist. I bet older people won't get any food either. Stop being a beast

What is the chines virus when everybody has got a hungry?🤔🤔

Think of everyone.

Shelfish buggers!!!

These people don't give a fuck, they create a crisis where there is none. Look at the dignity of people in N.Italy, in the middle of a catastrophe, queueing patiently to get into shops on a one in/one out basis, only buying what they need. We are a nation of selfish tossers.

This is the governments fault. They were given months of warning! This happened in China, this happened in Italy. They could have actually prepared for the inevitable so that this kind of thing didn’t happen.

OMG just calm down people. Supermarkets won't close. And on the other hand...how much more irresponsible and idiotic can you be to others around you and your community. This is so wrong on so many levels. Grow up people and be rational!

These are the same people that fight on black friday.

people are selfish rats!

Self preservation!

Always nice to see people helping people. At least UK shoppers leave their ninja swords at home-us Canadians can learn from this.

These people aren’t thinking about anybody else. It’s pure selfish greed.

Oh come on, just bring in the anarchy and face paint already...

I would put money on most of these selfish fucks being right-wingers and Brexiteers because nobody else behaves with this level of selfishness. They only ever care about themselves, it's in their DNA.

Біжи. Купуй. Панікуй.

Some people have no shame !

Rather optimistically appealing to people's better nature and believing in the free market solve things basically.

the supermarkets are enjoying this - they benefit 1. basket only policy 2. shop local 3. buy fruit and vegs from local grocers.

Panic-buying occurs because people don't trust the government or the corporations that own it to make sure they'll be okay. But, yeah, blame the public.

All these people probably got the virus by going to the shop!
