As part of growing measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Loblaws supermarkets will be installing plexiglass shields in front of checkout counters.
In a statement released Saturday, Loblaw Companies Limited executive chairman Galen Weston said the shields are already being installed in stores.It was not immediately clear whether the Loblaw-owned Shoppers Drug Mart chain is included in the planColleague wellbeing remains our highest priorityEarlier this week, Weston published an open letter to shoppers saying grocery stores will remain open and that shelves will be stocked despite the newly-implemented border restrictions.
“We are going to make sure our stores stay up and running to serve your community,” Weston vowed in the letter. “We have the food, drugs, and essential products you need — and that supply will continue even as Canada restricts its borders.”

By comparison, here in NovaScotia, at Foodland, owned by Sobeys, it’s a free-for-all. Cashiers have a bucket of water and a bottle of Spray9 to keep themselves and their area clean. No gloves, no sanitizer in store, no limitations of crowds. It’s pretty awful.

I heard in ontario all loblaws and no frills employees will receive a 2 dollar raise. I'm wondering if walmart and sobeys will follow this.
Tax payers will fund that for the good old Weston family

Shoppers drug mart needs to do this ASAP! Those cashiers & pharmacists are risking their health so people can get things they need!!!!!!!!!
Please get them to wash their hands between each client, as they are touching our food. And please get them to clean self-checkout stations between each client.
