The paradox of being deemed essential by one level of government but disqualified from receiving aid from another is vexing to many dispensary owners.

For now, DeLaRosa Green said she doesn’t need the loans, but this isn't the first time her business was passed over for federal aid.

Because the federal government still considers marijuana a Schedule I controlled substance, banks can be prosecuted for doing business with cannabis companies, which makes access to capital much more difficult.A person is shown in the 99 High Tide marijuana dispensary. After the wildfires, DeLaRosa Green said her business survived because she took out private loans with high-interest rates.

MJ edibles R very hazardous.

Talk about taxpayer money going up in smoke...

Essential on State level. DT's people on the Fed level wouldn't aid the dispensaries unit the banks are involved.

Can you imagine the administration-bashing we'd all be subjected to if Marijuana dispensaries were receiving aid?

My favoite Medi-MJ shop really doesn't need stimulus because its doing deliveries like hotcakes and never stopped selling gonzo weed! Tasty weed sells its self depression or boomtown!

Weed is illegal on the federal level so kinda impossible to fund on the federal level.

I hope that people of America who think that A law and A Rule are the same well they are Not, Every State can not sell Marijuana but all States are Ruled by the Government, Laws can be broken but Rules can't, because there's Cardinal. They'll get it Together.

Why do they need aid? Business is booming!

While marijuana may be deemed essential by the states that legalized it (mainly because of the taxes they collect). It is still illegal at the federal level.

how many democrats got their free Corona money from trumpie? probably none. Cuz he's so pouterful. BERN THE BABY BERN THE BABY!

They are not legal federally so no duh

One word: federalism. A press possessed by ideology is not a free press. You are transparent in your contempt for the public.

If they are open for business (and thriving), why would they need aid?

the green Gold paradox

If you get into the business of selling addictive toxins to humans you don't deserve a break.

Essential ought to mean essential.

I got my medical marijuana card here in Michigan several years ago. I was worried they would be considered non essential, but thankfully they’re still open here. I really hope they get the federal laws up to speed soon. My dispensary is no different than a pharmacy is for others.

If you are essential and making even a marginal profit right now, compared to those businesses who have none, you shouldn't even be in the line complaining about it.

LoL who in their right mind would think that FEDERAL money would come from a government that considers marijuana a schedule 1 drug? Don't they still do FEDERAL raids on those places?

Good! They were open!

Maybe because the marijuana industry is fine and healthy? They don't need a bailout. Profits have skyrocketed in the past month. smh

Seriously I’ve heard the pot stores have lines wrapped around building and business is booming. They don’t need aid because they are still open and profiting. Medical necessity for cancer - yes but not o stall essential. I’m okay w no federal funding (my tax ) for marijuana.

How about the paradox of the conservatives on both Wisconsin and US Supreme Courts forcing WI voters to vote in person during a PANDEMIC — while they were sheltered in place?
