Finance Minister Tito Mboweni also said that the government would revise its fiscal framework to take into account the effects of COVID-19.

Government is considering temporarily increasing grants for the elderly and children. This in an effort to cushion them against the socio-economic impact of COVID-19. The possibility of grant increases was revealed by Finance Minister Tito Mboweni, during an online briefing.

Addressing journalists on a conference call, Mboweni said of any possible IMF loans:"We are not looking for budget support, we would be looking for the COVID-19 specific packages that we can access, and we are talking to them about that. "We know what to do, we know what our structural reform programme is. We will not be looking into that at all."

No agreement had yet been reached on pay increases for public-sector employees due to take effect this month, he said.

No SAP's? Good luck in securing money from IMF or from any other multilateral institutions

Could it be that the government is scared of strict corporate governance or msybe real life style audits ?

IMF requires implementation of certain economic policies. These policies reduce government borrowing and is associated with higher taxes and lower spending. Africa might not receive financial aid.

that is appreciated Tito, let us manage our problems with what we have rather than expanding the country's debt

They know that IMF will question all the dodgy funds they release towards useless tenders.
