CAAM-Mavcom merger still on, say sources

Malaysia’s air-safety rating was downgraded by the FAA last year because of failures to meet international safety standards. This prompted the previous government to propose a merger between CAAM and Mavcom. – AFP pic, April 21, 2020.

THE proposed merger between the Malaysian Aviation Commission and the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia is still alive despite the change in government, sources said. “The Transport Ministry has not indicated anything on policy direction. We assume it is status quo,” a source linked to Mavcom told The Malaysian Insight.
