The country’s largest bosses’ group says it would be unfair to expect employers to foot the bill especially since many companies are facing cash flow issues.

The Malaysian Employers Federation today insisted that the government should bear the estimated costs of over RM1 billion to perform a mandatory Covid-19 screening on all foreign workers in the country.

MEF president Shamsuddin Bardan said it would be unfair to expect employers to foot the bill, particularly as it was the government's decision and businesses have just resumed operations following the enforcement of the conditional movement control order which began yesterday.

U hire u pay! Why gov't must pay! Is there any logic gov't must bear the cost!

The easiest way out by pushing the burden back to the authority. Unnecessary expenditure using the money from the rakyat. 😡😥

Sendiri mau pekerja asing, sendiri la kena tanggung. Jangan jd macam pendatang asing tak sedar diri tu pendatang macam waythamoorthy .

👌

Look at this way, employers (big and small) will sack their foreign labours when you put this costs on them. Then they will be back in the hands of the govt again.

Correct paid levy and all the cost when bringing in the foreign workers, cannot just throw everything to employers, SMEs how to swallow all these when they don’t even have income for almost 2 months?

MEF is right. What’s the point of economic stimulus if Govt then forces employers struggling to keep biz going to spend millions on testing foreign workers?

dah bayar levi
