The government is unhappy that SAA business rescue practitioners spent between R30m and R35m on American consultants, while it has not yet seen any plan to save the national carrier from total collapse.

"We've called on the BRPs themselves - all of the consulting entities that they've brought in, which includes some accounting firms, to actually reduce fees by anything up to 40% so that they also contribute - like the staff would be contributing - to a proper outcome of this process. We've not heard from them in this particular regard."

Gordhan said the government also wanted the BRPs to reverse their decision to put a complete halt to all SAA flights on Friday, including planes that may be required to urgently repatriate South Africans stuck in foreign countries as the world battles the Covid-19 pandemic.

THEY HAVE SHARED THE MONEY? IT IS ALL LIES BECAUSE SOMEBODY WHO IS WORKING WITH THEM WANT TO DESPISE YOU ADVISED THEM TO UNDO YOUR PLANS OF RETAINING THE SAA!!!

TRUE SOMEBODY WHO VIE WITH I SUSPECT

Government does not want to reduce workforce or overpaid managers / execs! What do you expect... magic!!? We’ve also heard rumors of tenders with R100 bottles of water... vuks pravingordan

You can’t go into business rescue - but you dictate the rules mr Gordhan. It doesn’t work like that. If you unhappy then you should never have gone into rescue - but rather fix it yourself. You want the rescuers to fix the unfixable This is a ways of time & taxpyer money.

Outsourcing and consultants will be the death of government.

Correct me if I am wrong but the MOU and its supporting documents would have had various benchmarks for payment, No?... wait!!!... was there even an MOU?

Why Americans

Yet the government spent billions on destroying SAA but now bemoan a R30m expense on flogging a dead horse in the hope it will miraculously recover.

One day we’ll see snakes properly when the grass is cut. Those pretending to be “fighting corruption & mismanagement” appear to be corrupt bad managers of EVERYTHING. SA will regret listening to Times Luve & ENCA poison!

I think they unhappy because they could not steal the R35 million and they got the right advice .

If only he had such persistent concern when his cadre were looting SAA , opportunist is our PG , just another politician.

And who signed off the payments?

Your post says Government but your link says Gordhan. So is he the Government.

What is pharmacist saying?

BR practitioners don't rescue businesses, they dont come up with plans (thats mgmt's job). Its like asking a funeral director to resuscitate their patient. All the while the 'patients' family is saying 'no, you cant bury them!'. No sympathy for any side here

Oh my LORD, where was the minister and government in process of this fruitless expenditure Complaining now is not the solution and will not help dawn_africa to save the SAA

So our so called practitioners spend or rather wasted money to consult with qualified consultants on how to rescue a business... Damn

So they’re saying that they now know how we feel about how they spend money?

Are these consultants declared 'essential service'? If so, why?

BRP were brought in because for the past 2 years the SAA board could not provide financial statements and yet SAA needed bail outs. Why did you not “slam” the board at that time .

Perhaps because it can’t be saved and should not be saved

We are not stupid🤮🤮

They would have charged in Dollars 💵😢we have Monopoly money so everything is expensive 😭

Those are big bags
