BURBANK: Disney’s live-action retelling of legendary warrior “Mulan” is targeting a July 24 date, the company’s CEO Bob Chapek reconfirmed.Chinese epic “Mulan” remains Disney’s next movie of the coronavirus era, with the company sticking to a July 24 date decided upon mid-March.
CEO Bob Chapek, a nearly three-decade veteran of the company and chief executive since April 2020, said that he thought Walt Disney Studios’ upcoming slate faced both a “stair-step situation” as well as “a lot of pent-up demand” due to the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic. Theatrical releases remain a foundational element for Disney, Chapek continued, emphasising that they are a “viable and important way to premiere films.”
