Tourism groups have pushed back against the idea of waiting until September for Queensland to relax its border controls with southern states

, warning the damage to their $150 billion industry could not be justified when coronavirus case numbers were falling.

"If one or two states were to hold out, then they will be answerable to their tourism industry and will ultimately need to provide additional support to that industry," Senator Birmingham said. The Queensland government's stated roadmap on restrictions suggests the border controls could be lifted in July "subject to further planning and review" but Ms Palaszczuk warned on Monday of a later timeframe.

Queensland Tourism Industry Council chief Daniel Gschwind said the sector was "taken by surprise" by Ms Palaszczuk's remarks and wanted the state to return to its earlier plan to open the borders in July.

The decision is based on medical advice. So let's listen to medical advice..

Kick corrupt AnnastaciaMP empire out QueenslandParl1 before the damaging to Queensland and Queenslanders and other states are unrepairable .

States do not have the legal powers within the Constitution to close down and shut down borders.. they simply do not have the ability to do that. TheGlobalAwakening States are shutting their borders to stop coronavirus. Is that actually lawful?

Queenslanders are lucky to have a Premier who cares about their health and well-being, whilst in NSW the $$$, pals & Morrison rule Gladys.

No further proof required that Palushak is a complete moron

It’s Ludicrous.

No one actually like Queensland, truth be told. Keep it locked up! Throw away the key! *mind fills with images of huge, fat, ugly cane toads*

No cockroaches no Mexicans. Just stay out

because dead tourists is free PR for your resort!

They’ll stop pushing back if one of them is on a ventilator.

Yet they weren’t concerned before when you had lockout laws which meant you couldn’t score a line, down some schooners and get a root after 11.30pm in Kings Cross.

We don’t mind, in stead of going to Burleigh we will go to NSW north coast.

Party with vested interest in opening shockingly wants to open. ftfy auspol Murdochshitrag

... QldGov it's important to wait just long enough for the entire economy to be completely destroyed...
