6 industries defying the odds and making a massive comeback as the coronavirus wreaks havoc on the global economy

but for a handful of industries, the pandemic is serving as a surprising catalyst for a turnaround.

For companies in these sectors that were struggling in pre-pandemic times, the coronavirus is proving to be an unexpected shot to the arm. We took a closer look at six sectors experiencing impressive gains and trending toward a possible turnaround during the coronavirus outbreak. Meal kit companies like Blue Apron, HelloFresh, and Purple Carrot have experienced significant sales growth during the coronavirus pandemic as Americans seek out alternative ways to procure groceries.

"We don't know how long this is going to last, but we look at this as a moment in time and you don't necessarily build a strategy off of a moment in time," Blue Apron CEO Linda KozlowskiBicycle companies and shops , in the month of March sales of leisure bikes increased by 121%, while children's bikes rose by 59% and commuter and fitness bikes climbed 66%. Even electric bike sales rose by 85%.
