PUB landlords have demanded that the two-metre social distancing rule is halved because it could leave over 37,000 boozers unable to open.
Ministers have said that some areas of the hospitality industry could start to open in July, but that social distancing measures will be implemented. Emma McClarkin, chief executive of the British Beer and Pub Association, told The Times that “at two metres you’re probably looking at only 20 per cent of pubs being able to operate.”
The UK and Spain are the only European countries using a two-metre rule, with the World Health Organisation recommending one metre.
We can Put all the government rules in and call the pubs wetherspoons
For most businesses to move forward we must get rid of this unproved rule, how can public transport, planes, pubs etc be profitable, there is a tiny risk for 95% of the population and if people don’t mind that then let’s get our life back, the vulnerable can always stay away
I'm curious to see outcome of this as amongst any evidence I've read on this virus I have never read that you must be 2mtr or more apart, so where that come from?
Wouldn’t even worry about 2 m distancing. When you look what’s happening everyday on tunes and now beaches
All the companies that have spent thousands on new signs on the 2 m rule won’t be happy.
Maybe they could all wear masks and suck their beers through a straw, just a suggestion !
Stay home and drink it's cheaper 😀
In some countries there isn't even a 2m rule
Break the rules, the virus numbets shoots up and you're back to square one again. Decide what you want
I agree with them. There is no need for it.
