Policymakers may be able to change Facebook, but after the Cambridge Analytica scandal, Congress proved ineffective at asking the right questions, ultimately not knowing how to protect the billions of Facebook's users.
Given the unique state of our planet right now, and the ways in which 2020 has forced humans to examine the way we treat one another, I cannot in good conscience recommend Facebook to anybody.
OneTonyOnly I quit after the 2016 election. Yes, I miss knowing what's happening with far-flung friends, but I've adapted back to where I was before Facebook. It was just insanely toxic and I can't support their inaction and *promotion* of ideals I hold as antithetical to democracy.

“Policing accuracy of information is a moral issue”. They are a platform for other people to provide opinions not to generate them on their own w editorial content. Why isn’t the answer to speech more speech? Twitter “fact check”’d an opinion the other day.

Wow, I did this a couple days ago as well as get rid of apps that needs Facebook to log in. I feel good about it, too much bad energy associated with Facebook.

afneil I don't use any social media to consume information. I downloaded an app that blocks certain words so my facebook is pretty much cat videos pics of friends and updates about my friends lives. Much nicer.
