Serial entrepreneur Brown, 40,
has been thinking about how to help people overcome debt since he was a teenager in a household where money was tight. “Especially among the educated elite in America, there’s a big lack of empathy for people who don’t reach their financial goals,” he says. He didn’t think that giving people the context and tools to handle debt was enough to solve the problem. So in 2015, he founded Tally, an automated app that helps people pay off their credit-card debt, with Platz, 40.
