The only ethical use of facial recognition is to not use it at all. One doesn't consent to have their picture analyzed and their identity tracked just by appearing in public. It's fundamentally invasive in an unethical way, like most data collection and ad tracking.
If you don’t understand why this is ridiculous... Ask Google.
