Tech companies including Facebook, Google and Microsoft have pledged to improve and standardise annual disclosures around online child exploitation.

SAN FRANCISCO - Tech companies including Facebook , Google and Microsoft on Thursday pledged to improve and standardise annual disclosures around online child exploitation, as they fight off moves to limit encryption.

"We'd love to move beyond just the number of reports that may be out there, to really understanding what those reports mean," said Antigone Davis, Facebook's global head of safety. The U.S.-led"Five Eyes" alliance last year threatened to weaken legal protections and called on Facebook to suspend plans to extend end-to-end encryption across its messaging services.
