Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. acknowledged a lack of diversity in its ranks and its role in past racism on Friday as it pledged to overhaul how it does business.

The federal housing agency said it will re-assess all of its practices through a racialized lens to an effort to eliminate discrimination.

CMHC's decision was prompted by anti-Black racism demonstrations held across Canada and the U.S. after the death of George Floyd, a handcuffed Black man in Minneapolis who pleaded for air as a white police officer pressed his knee against Floyd's neck for nearly nine minutes."We must all stand together with our Black co-workers and the victims of murder, oppression and the systemic racism that exists everywhere.

It will offer leadership training and professional development to support the progress of Black and racialized employees and provide mandatory anti-racism training for all staff.

Is there anything in CMHC's policies, procedures of legislation that actually discriminates or even mentions race? Don't they use merit based hiring and promotion? The reassessed policies are likely to end up being more discriminatory if they are not strictly merit based.

What a bunch of made up crap. Are you saying that mortgage brokers and bank branch mortgage officers are racist cause those are the only people who can tell if you're a visible minority unless CMHC is doing some opo research we don't know about

Black Canadians are OVER REPRESENTED per capita as CMHC employees and this fool says the numbers are so low?

'through a racialized lens to eliminate discrimination'. LOL!

Mortgages are racist? I declare myself to be PanRacial. Now, when there's some benefit for those who aren't 'white', I'll qualify!

Did Justin write this headline?

Red,Yellow,Black or Orange, the numbers don’t change

Give the jobs to the best qualified person...

It’s amazing how MEDIA and Trudeau Have created a campaign of DISTRACTION from a problem that exists in the USA...and the dumber Canadians fall for it...

You can start by repealing your idiotic new guidelines that you chose to implement at the “perfect” time. 😒

The new liberal way... Give jobs to unqualified people just to make things diverse

Mathematics use numbers and don’t see race, nice try though

The biggest discrimination, which happens more and more, is when 'color' over ability is hired into any position. The biggest form of racism today, is the white man is racist narrative being pushed by the Liberal/Socialist leader(s) and propagated by activist media like

There is only one race, Thr Human Race, when the media and prople stop judging people by the pigment of there skin then racism will truly start to stop! adding fuel to the fire of racism in the name of the liberal_party and blackface JustinTrudeau !

Have you reached out to bell about their call centers? Or is that too close to home?

I don’t care what the races of any of your employees. Putting the most qualified person for the job in place maybe you should be your first priority.
