Employment rates, oil prices, consumer confidence and many other measures paint a clear recessionary picture. And yet stock indices continue to rebound much faster than the rest of the economy.

that stocks are an attractive option — even in the midst of a recession caused by a once-in-a-generation pandemic.rather than optimism on the future value of companies,” Sinclair told me. “It may be more about the S&P 500 being better than anywhere else to put funds rather than about actual optimism.”optimism driving investors’ actions, though. “Maybe people are investing for the longer term and are viewing the current economic situation as substantially temporary,” Sinclair wrote.

And it’s worth noting that, despite everything, the markets are not totally separate from the virus that continues to afflict every corner of the world.

Haha...this is called a “two-fer” because two sources look really stupid here!

Stock Market is manipulation by Corporate America! It has no relevance to over 90% of the Americans! The beneficiaries of the manipulation are the billionaires!

the 'mess' always make poor people poorer and rich people richer....

staystrong That's coronavirus effected on the world together in together going out Godcomment...

Because Washington is on the dollar and is a racist

With the plan demic slowing the economy should recover, unless the Dems stop it

It's because pent up demand is showing signs of bringing us out of this slump. Great numbers keep coming out..we may get out of this faster than anyone thought possible. ABC hates it because they are subversive, agenda driven scum.

The trillions doled out during this administration had to go some place.

The real indicator of the stock market is the wealth value of the top 1% of the population. Is that so hard to comprehend?

Corrupt and inequitable actions by Congress and this admin? Protection of international stockholders rather than American citizens?

Because the stock market is not reflective of real economy. Anybody with reasonable IQ can tell you that the stock market is a super huge casino and not an indicator to the economy anymore for decades.

The filthy Rich that own many of the wall street corporations have many options to hide their money, they buy gold when the markets up then sell their gold when the markets low and buy stock which makes market go up, Trumps rich friends have been doing this repeatedly lately⚡️😝

3 houses in my neighborhood sold in less than a week just recently.

It's called a Fed put. The Fed will not let the market go down. They will print as much is necessary to keep that from happening. Debasing our currency in the process. Of course when they do this, wealth disparity widens. This doesn't benefit Main St. It benefits the 1%.

Because a lot of ppl don't rely on the economy for their livelihood. They rely on stocks & bonds so if markets are good they won't go bankrupt.

The economy is not in a mess. It's just sitting idle waiting for the pandemic to be over. Investors know this. We're going to see some strong numbers again coming up soon.

Because they know trump is going to win.

One has little to do with the other in reality.

BECAUSE THE STOCK MARKET IS NOT (AND-DOES-NOT-EQUAL) THE ECONOMY

Upshot: stock market hasn’t crashed because people with enough cash to invest don’t have anywhere else to go so they aren’t pulling out. Even those that know they’ll likely lose some value as some businesses collapse they’re betting on diversification softening the impact.

I attribute this to the great spirit of my fellow countrymen. While markets escape my 18th century understanding, what I do understand is the can do attitude of my people. Their contagious enthusiasm for progress and the American Way

Because it is 'the rich people's feelings graph'. Haves looting the have-nots is the economy.

Zombie stock market

it might still a lot of people who love the delusional economic and living in fantasy

The market is optimistic and looks to the future. ABC should also...

Here’s what stock-market investors think is the biggest factor in their investing as coronavirus cases rise—hint: it isn’t a second waveA recent survey by investment firm Jefferies indicates that the rise in coronavirus cases isn’t the central worry for investors. It’s the shape of the economic recovery that is the single-biggest factor by far for the investment community Then this survey interviewed idiots. The shape of the recovery is tied to the rise and fall of the virus and a vaccine that is very far away. COVID will determine the shape of the recovery. If a vaccine was ready to be deployed today it would be a backwards “L” shaped recovery lol.
