Olympus's camera sale, which comes 18 months after pushy American investor ValueAct prompted a shakeup, puts the Japanese company's value into a clearer view. jgfarb writes:

Olympus said on June 24 it had agreed to sell its unprofitable camera business to Japan Industrial Partners.

The company plans to separate the so-called imaging business into a new entity and then transfer it to JIP. It did not disclose financial terms but expects to have a final agreement by Sept. 30.
