Google is revamping its privacy policies and says it will now auto-delete search and location data by default for new users

It will now auto-delete location and web activity after 18 months by default, but only for new activations. For existing users, Google will send out reminders that they can set their data to expire after a certain period of time.

Google had previously offered the option to auto-delete data such as search and location history after 3 or 18 months, but users had to select this option in the settings. However, none of these changes will apply to users with existing Google accounts. Instead, the company says it will remind those existing users via notifications and emails about the auto-delete controls on offer.
