Internet companies may face increased liability for content posted online, forcing platforms to increase policing of user comments.

The Trump administration is calling for a reexamination of Section 230, which provides "conduit immunity" to internet platforms.

The Trump administration is calling for a reexamination of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1996. "It's the foundation that helps keep our internet more civil," said Carl Szabo, vice president and general counsel for NetChoice. During the net neutrality movement, the FCC examined the possibility of helping to regulate content by allowing companies to offer paid prioritization or a "fast lane" for some content providers. Under Chairman Ajit Pai, the FCC decided that it does not regulate content and left the option of paid prioritization up to the companies.

The internet is designed to be an open source, decentralized platform for anyone, anywhere to access and use. This is it's only purpose and it's simplistic beauty. Any attempts to control it, will only result in it washing around the control like a river around a rock.

Jack: I decide what is okay to say on this platform. You guys: we stan😍🥰 Mark Z: I don’t think we should be arbiters of truth Plebs(you guys): wahhhh boycott and cancel Facebook. Plzzzzz Jesus help these feeble minded children make it through the rest of 2020 with common sense

What about national news networks? Should they be held accountable for paying for Iraq War they mislead us into? Or riots, looting & vandalism they are now perpetuating? What you see on social media just a symptom of misinformation & hate ginned up by media FCC CNN billmaher

crypt0e The Left has always been totalitarian.

MONOPOLIOS CRIMINALES!!!

The republicans need to remember any changes they make will effect them once they are removed as will any bad precedent Barr sets as to presidential conduct and oversight

The USA and China controls the internet. But the USA is getting worse at it

Dems propaganda machine should be taken Don but that's most of the news

No one should own/control it. Quite simple!

It’s called FREEDOM KISS ASS MSM AND YOU AND SOCIAL MEDIA CENSORSHIT AND WEVE HAD ENOUGH SO TIMES UP!!

There should be NO liability protection for any social media sites, search engines, etc. Let them pay, in court, for their actions.

This isn’t about who controls the internet. If they want to be a platform for free speech than have it. Just don’t sell advertising or the data of the people on your platform. Can’t have it both ways. There is 0 regulation while “real media” companies are held accountable.

Slippery Slope.

good luck “regulating”. 😉

I am guessing you are talking about Twitter, Facebook and such and now the internet provider companies. Because if it's the internet provider companies... Give me 3 minutes and it will look like I posted from Russia, then UK, the Brasil.

Hell no!! Restriction to freedom of speech.

Why? Because America republican party decides to but threatened the rest of the world for years not to interfere with Google and FB..free speach when it suits your agenda and Americans but up with this because their bipartisan politics means more..crazy world.

Unless of course by some demonic miracle Trump is re-elected

But policing ONLY conservative views. Conservatives believe in free speech and the Constitution - the Leftist (media and internet companies) believe people should say only what they think is proper.

Long overdue!

Anyone want to bet GOP solutions will not include a non-partisan fact checking organization?
