These problems are far from unique, see diamonds gold and chocolate for example. If companies won’t insist on ethical sustainable supply lines consumers should boycott them. Luckily this has been shown to be very effective over time
As Tesla says companies can build requirements for ethical sustainable mining into contracts & effect change. Australia produces Li & cobalt, Chinese want to mine asteroids & the moon. & everyone is racing for the Arctic and Antarctic resources.
