LONDON - Britain’s retail industry on Friday urged UK and European negotiators to reach a post-Brexit trade deal, warning that without tariff-free trade, consumers face higher prices from next year.
Britain left the EU in January and is currently in a standstill transition period with the bloc to give the two sides time to fix a new relationship in everything from trade to security. In May, the UK government published its new tariff schedule, which would apply from Jan. 1 2021 if a deal was not agreed.
More scaremonguering. Global prices are considerably cheaper than Eu prices. What is the problem? All the Eu produces can be bought more cheaply, to our standards, outside of the Eu! We set our tariff rates when we leave on WTO & we can set Zero on all that we don’t produce.
Ah, well, then maybe Brexit shouldn't have happened. You get what you deserve.
No shit, Sherlock!
Maybe they should have pressured Boris Johnson a long time ago, doing it now, 6 months before reaching the deadline is too little too late
Those German car makers and Italian prosecco producers are taking their time...
