We have to live with the coronavirus for a long time so we must find a way of living with it while keeping the momentum going within the economy, Business Council of Australia CEO JAWestacott says.

We have to live with the coronavirus for a long time so we must find a way of living with it while keeping the momentum going within the economy, Business Council of Australia CEO Jennifer Westacott says. “General consensus is we are two years away from a vaccine,” Ms Westacott told Sky News. “We have to learn from what mistakes have been made and so we have to put in place the systems.

“Whether it’s quarantine, border control or local lockdowns. A recent spike in cases in Victoria has forced states to close borders, which has heavily affected businesses around the economy. Victoria also accounts for almost 30 per cent of national GDP. “We cannot eliminate this without a vaccine, therefore we have to get the systems right to manage these local outbreaks which will happen. “Then businesses can plan, and people can plan their own lives.

JAWestacott First of all everybody has to agree on an acceptable death rate, like we do for the common flu and and motor vehicle accidents etc. I have yet to see anybody put their hand up on this one. They all like to make noise but why are they so reluctant.?

JAWestacott IF there is a vaccine, minimum 1 possibly 2 years away, Vaccine is NOT a definite, we need to move forward, continuing lockdowns is a very short term fix...

JAWestacott Business Council CEO says business should be put first 🙄 the problem with this premise is that we don’t have to live with it. With an effective eradication strategy we can remove it from our community. We need a prolonged strict lockdown for that to happen though...

JAWestacott There is no 'living with this virus' It's either total eradication & get economy back to normal or 'manage' the problem and have constant lockdowns and economic disruption. Time ScottMorrisonMP & JAWestacottwoke up to this auspol Insiders

JAWestacott

JAWestacott The best for Australian economy is to eliminate the virus and then close the boarder. It is feasible and sustainable. But capitalists wouldn't do it. And you media keep brainwashing people on the wrong reopening strategy. auspol COVID19Vic

JAWestacott FYI - the economy was flatlining well before COVID19

JAWestacott Ignore the profit first brigade and listen to health experts.

JAWestacott What momentum? We were approaching a recession before it even happened.
