Coronavirus: Cuts 'took away' councils' crisis capacity

Local responses to coronavirus outbreaks could be threatened by a historic lack of investment in public health, government advisers warn.

They were being questioned by peers on whether local public health teams would be able to cope over winter.Leicester remains subject to the highest level of concern, followed by Blackburn and Pendle in Lancashire. The prime minister had made it"very clear" that some restrictions may have to be re-introduced, he said.

Prof Nick Phin at Public Health England , also appeared before peers and warned that budget reductions had"taken away" local public health resilience.On Friday, PHE set out the areas of England of greatest concern for local outbreaks.

Didn't stop out Council strutting streets dishing out fines 4 dropping a dog-end (bins full), 2 mins over parking (2 out of 3 machines broke), chasing permits,

'Conservative government cuts funding to municipalities shocker' said no one ever.

So we are still paying the price of Labours complete mismanagement of the economy then yeah? I’m guessing that’s not the narrative you are going for.

Perhaps you would like to look into all the unused kit they brought in like cardboard coffins, unused mortuaries, food supplies, unused PPE etc
