Cormann admits 'we are in a very challenging fiscal position' | Sky News Australia

Finance Minister Mathias Cormann says Australia is in a comparatively better position than it would have been if the Coalition "hadn't done the hard yards" to repair the budget in its first six years in government. "We are in a very challenging fiscal position - everyone knows why we are where we are," Mr Cormann said.

"We are in a better position than most other countries around the world both when it comes to health and economic and fiscal outcomes." Mr Cormann said the unprecedented impact of the coronavirus crisis forced the government to make rapid fiscal decisions that had significant implications for the country, but believed those moves were necessary to protect Australians on both a health and economic front.
