Private-equity executives are throwing their weight into the 2020 elections, and spending could approach the record of almost $118 million set in 2016

The private-equity industry is pouring millions of dollars into the 2020 elections, with some donors hoping to prevent full Democratic control of Capitol Hill and the potential for tighter oversight of their sector.

Employees of private-equity firms and other investment firms, not including hedge funds, spent $91.7 million on 2020 congressional races and presidential campaigns through July 21, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, a nonprofit group that researches money in politics.

wasted money.

Who r they buying?

savedemocracy18 Just because they’re in finance doesn’t mean they’re not perfectly capable of stuffing their money down a rat hole.

RT : Three of the four top recipients of direct contributions from employees of private-equity firms are Republican senators, according to a nonprofit group that researches money in politics

Why you starting a war among the people,,,crap like this will get your free press tuned up

Our politicans should not be able to profit in any way from special interests etc.. cut off the gravy train.

Because republicans are generally good for (or at least understanding of) business. Democrats are good for food stamps, teachers, the unemployed, and generally poor people. Private equity is about business and making money, not giving it away. This makes absolute sense to me.

Carried interest is going. Would you rather have the mob or a moderate if your head was on the block?

Disgusting. Campaign finance reform. Stop rich cocksucker's, super PACs and union thugs from buying politicians.

And 10/10 are scared of losing the carried interest tax loophole.

So my $100 means? Nothing.

But alot of you’re Citizen are still poor

If you trust this 'nonprofit' group to be nonpartisan, then I have a ski condo to sell you. It is in Aruba.

Blackstone! That's garbage right there.

Color me stunned.

No shit? Surprised it isn't all four. PE firms are capitalists, unlike Democrats.

That’s how they bought Collins vote for Kavanaugh....allegedly

Simple, just abolish private-equity firms. Want more? Abolish Republican senators.

Fantastic!

Of course….the PE guys are smart AF. I’m shocked it’s not 4/4.

All the money on the world won’t help these GOP LOOSERS be entrusted with privilege to represent Americans . Flush money down toilet

Deep state never claimed to be exclusive to one party.

Huge sample size there

They will get the candidate that will support them no matter what party it is. They don’t care lol. The “center democrats” are same as the republicans. All of them corporate puppets

Says the witch

Of course they are spending. They don’t want to pay any taxes and if Biden wins they know their taxes will be going back to if not higher than before.

What happens if they pour $ into the campaign and DT pulls out? Do they ask for their money back😜

Susan Collins, asked to make a statement about anything, declined, saying making such a statement would imperil her ability to commit on nothing in the future.

Ironically this money is the same one that Wall Street received for the US THE PEOPLE?

It’s too late. Voters of Maine will never trust Concerned Susan again, 💰 won’t fix that.

We in a pandemic folks out of work we need a whole reform of the democrats and Republicans congress and senate. To many leeches comfortable sucking up our tax money. Not doing anything for the ppl

If the public had no idea how much was spent on any election, would it matter or would people simply continue to vote for the letter behind a name? How many people changed their vote based on the amount of money a candidate spent or who contributed to them?

She needs to take the test, can remember from one minute to the next what she said.

Not sure if all the money in the world is going to save the Senate in GOP hands. We’ve had it with trump and those who enabled him.

So Senator Collins shouldn't be disappointed or concerned about money.... got it.

And look who's picture pops up! Concerning

This is a fucking problem and y’all know it
