I don't mean violent protests or agitators damaging property; we've seen those since the founding of our republic.
What makes DHS distinctive, with its expansive mission set and diverse agencies, is its extraordinarily broad law-enforcement authorities granted by Congress to prepare for and respond to threats. Such a massive reorganization of government is bound to have growing pains. Through the diligent and impassioned leadership of former secretaries like Tom Ridge, Michael Chertoff, Janet Napolitano, and Jeh Johnson, the department grew and matured. These leaders and their Senate-confirmed agency heads set the tone for the department's 240,000 employees and created a mission-driven culture of accountability.
Well, it would be a little more persuasive had you mentioned the communists instigating violence and local authorities doing nothing.
Ah of course now I understand, these rioters and looters are the peaceful nice guys?
