Former Finance Minister Des Van Rooyen has denied claims his appointment in December 2015 was meant to facilitate theft at Treasury.

Des Van Rooyen claims his appointment as Finance Minister in December 2015 was not meant to facilitate theft at Treasury on behalf of former President Jacob Zuma. Van Rooyen has been testifying at the state capture inquiry. He's been granted permission to cross-examine former Treasury DG Lungisa Fuzile. Fuzile previously testified that Van Rooyen instructed him to appoint Gupta associates during his tenure at the Treasury.

JOHANNESBURG - Former Finance Minister Des Van Rooyen has denied claims his appointment in December 2015 was meant to facilitate theft at Treasury on behalf of former President Jacob Zuma.Des van Rooyen testifies at state capture inquiry Commission Chair Raymond Zondo granted Van Rooyen permission to cross-examine former Treasury DG Lungisa Fuzile.

Fuzile has previously testified that Van Rooyen instructed him to appoint Gupta associates during his tenure at the Treasury.The inquiry continues on Wednesday.
