And it's not that teachers don't miss the classroom; the prevailing sentiment seems to be more one of maximum safety.

Opening schools with positivity rates are at 15% and your community is a little like playing Russian roulette with the lives of your coworkers and your students. Just shows the communities true feelings about teachers. We are expendable.
I know a bunch of parents having to forgo their jobs to homeschool their children. It’s not right and I sure hope their significant others don’t lose jobs and leave families completely unemployed. Just awful. Teachers need to teach, kids need to go to school.

Says it all teachers do not see themselves as essential workers. There is no parent in America that can believe their child will receive a better education from a computer screen, it can't happen.
