BERLIN: A little over 3 seconds to get to 100 kph, 19 seconds to fold down the roof: Porsche's priorities have never been clearer.
The new 911 body variant will be offered as the Targa 4 and Targa 4S and will be available on the market in the next few days, the German manufacturer says. Instead of the usual fabric roof over the entire cabin, the Targa only has a fabric panel over the first row, followed by a massive roll bar that separates the iconic glass dome covering the rear.
Due to the complex mechanics involved, this also only works when the car is parked, and unlike in a normal convertible, you won't be able to hit a button to fold down the roof while driving.According to Porsche, the Targa comes with a three-litre six-cylinder engine and four-wheel drive, optionally with an eight-speed double clutch or, for the same price, as a manual gearbox with seven gears.
