To owners of bars and nightclubs, pandemic restrictions on the industry can feel punitive. But there are important differences, virus hunters say, between a bar and a restaurant that serves alcohol.

"If you were to create a petri dish and say, how can we spread this the most? It would be cruise ships, jails and prisons, factories, and it would be bars," Alozie says. He was a member of the Texas Medical Association committee that created"You can't drink through the mask, so you're taking off your mask. There are lots of people, tight spaces and alcohol is a dis-inhibitor — people change their behaviors," Alozie says.

"I could hear people laughing in the bar," she recalls."It just touched my heart, and it felt like something was normal again."By late July, the coronavirus had made a resurgence in the Seattle area, and Washington Gov. Jay Inslee soon put another ban on indoor service at places that sold alcohol — including Herzog's shop.

While bars can ask customers to wear masks and sit at tables, Alozie says he is skeptical that such guidance, however well-intentioned, can be successful. An outbreak linked to a bar and grill in southwest Washington state is instructive. "You're asking customers who are drinking and doing karaoke to follow the physical distancing and masking requirements," says, director of the Clark County Health Department, which conducted the investigation."So that was challenging in this particular situation."

States need to pass emergency legislation. Bypassing due process opens states up to lawsuits.

When will the data be available for the hundreds and thousands of people protesting, rioting and looting? 50 people in a bar vs. 1000 with their thumbs buried in their ass? 🤔

But the GENZs must socialize, they must or they will disappear! They must have their bars!

We tried prohibition once already. It's going to go the same way.

Let them waste their time & $$ on court fees. Still need to be shut down since they cannot control the patrons & drunks.

Now do protests

Close the country forever!

SHUT indoor dining DOWN. Gyms too.

Sadly, alcohol makes you do stupid things. Eating food doesn't.

Get your news elsewhere NPR is a parody Americans overestimate the risk of death from COVID-19 for people aged 24 & younger by a factor of 50; & they think the risk for people aged 65 and older is half of what it actually is (40% vs 80%). DefundNPR

AMERICA! FUCK YEAH!

The virus is going to spread (it's just a question of how quickly), unless we have a multi-year lockdown with everyone confined to their homes. Such a lockdown will impoverish humanity, and is contrary to human nature, so it won't happen.

US will never get out of this pandemic bc ppl like this r so selfish, think they r above the virus, above the law. Americans aren't discipline enough to get this virus under control like in other countries. Corona is having good time at the bar.

Close indoor dining too.

Have you looked at the studies. Look at the studies NPR don't just be mouthpieces for the 'experts,' out there. Go to the source. You will find something quite different than what this tweet implies.

Allow both to open, but outdoor-only.

But if we let bats open then we can blame them for the virus spreading and not our protests

people lose all concept of distancing and not touching their face when drunk not to mention yelling

Let’s make our way back to the fabulous 50s when everyone stayed home, grilled 12-pound Porterhouse steaks on the patio, chain-smoked, and drank cocktails until they were blind. Got your MAGA right here.

Yeah, we got the inclosed spacrs with many people is bad, good thing schools wont open🤦 profit over people always works out well🤦

Still no data on race riots and BLM marxist street theater spreading it?

Hey, no one ever said drug dealers care about their customers.

It makes sense a bunch of drunk people would let their guard down and get each other sick. After two drinks someone is forgetting to put their mask back on and folks are pushing their way up to the bar for more.

This is common sense. It’s sad that the bars have to close, some for good, but it’s necessary during a pandemic.

Duh. That’s how common cold is spread. Get over it.

..and protests/riots?

Stay home snowflakes. The rest of us aren’t scared to live our lives

Rather then adapting to the new normal with new ideas and changes to their business plans the Bars are just suing the government. Are we really at a point where America cannot adapt & change for public safety?
