Must be a way to evade employment tax by keeping drivers as contractors. Very clear where the companies interest is at right now, and its not with the drivers. OR maybe they don't want to compensate the extra employees because they can't cover own overhead expenses.

drawandstrike In IT, they have been dealing with this for years—almost all jobs contract. No benefits, 1099, and they tell you when you have to be in the office, etc. that is not the definition of a contractor. It allows them not to pay benefits or fair wages.

JosieKame I don’t know about California, but in Alabama I’m making a good living off Uber and Lyft. I make over a thousand bucks a week. I don’t work ridiculous hours and I’m home every night. I used to drive a semi. I have combat related PTSD and can’t really control my sleep cycle. Sooo.
