KUALA LUMPUR: Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi says the price of face masks will be reviewed at the end of September as manufacturers are producing an adequate supply.

Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat today, he said manufacturers are producing 1.5 million face masks each day with another four expected to begin operating in October.“We will lower the ceiling price after the review,” he said to Cha Kee Chin , who had asked for the price of face masks to be reduced in stages to prevent losses to manufacturers.

He also suggested that three-ply masks be sold at 50 to 60 sen each, and urged Putrajaya to reduce the price of children’s masks to below that of adults’. However, Linggi said the price of children’s masks would remain the same as manufacturers still incurred costs despite the smaller size.Subscribe to our newsletter and get news delivered to your mailbox.
