A group of buyout investors has made a takeover offer for railroad operator Kansas City Southern, which has a market value of more than $17 billion

Blackstone Group Inc. and Global Infrastructure Partners submitted the bid after a previous approach was rebuffed, the people said. It is unclear whether Kansas City Southern will be receptive this time and details of the offer couldn’t be learned.

Also now I’m curious if KC southern owns the actual railway itself and leases rights to Amtrak (like cSx does with many railways up north; an arrangement that basically guarantees slow, crappy passenger service that’s constantly being delayed on a whim by CSX)

let’s all hope to god that KC Southern doesn’t sell so much as a single share to these goddamn vultures who are almost certainly looking to strip the company for parts, shaft it’s workers etc (BlackStone in particular is terrible)
