Fishermen’s association welcomes extra cash from govt

The national fishermen’s association welcomes Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin restoring the fisherman’s allowance to RM300 a month, saying its members have been badly hit by the Covid-19 crisis. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, September 17, 2020.

PRIME Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s announcement today that the government will return the living allowance for fishermen back to RM300 from RM250 a month reflects its concern for the welfare of the group, National Fishermen’s Association general manager Azrin Shah Ismail said. According to Azrin, the announcement was good news for fishermen, especially coastal fishermen who were mostly affected by the spread of Covid-19.
