Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich held secret investments in footballers not owned by his club, while they played in matches in 2014 against his side, an investigation has discovered

In December 2016, a suspicious activity report was filed about Mr Abramovich.

The SAR said many of the shell companies were"owned by Roman Abramovich… one of Russia's most powerful oligarchs with close ties to Moscow & Vladimir Putin".Among the transactions were a series of nine payments from a Cypriot company that were split between four other companies before $156m ended up in Leiston Holdings.

And Sporting agreed to pay Leiston a"risk fee" of more than €127,000 for each season Carrillo played for the club.Leiston also owned stakes in two other Sporting players - Gael Etock, who played for the club between 2012 and 2013, and Valentim Viola who was in the squad between 2012 and 2016.

Mr Abramovich's spokeswoman said:"The fact that transactions may have been confidential, does not mean that they were unlawful or otherwise in breach of then applicable rules or regulations."The spokeswoman added that suspicious activity reports do not mean laws or rules have been broken, saying:"The fact that we are not aware of this issue, confirms that there has been no wrongdoing as no action was taken.

SvenTviking Is he related to Maria Abromovich?

this is very interesting, very interested indeed.

he’s got a big boat as well 😬

😂

So fucking what looool

I mean in the 5 years before that he donated $2.5 billion to building infrastructure, schools and hospitals in his home country. But yea he’s a bad guy because he had some bets going which probably made him some pocket change 🙄

The amount of good this man has done for london, UK in the last 6mths is incredible and you lot are thinking about this. Absolutely mental.

UEFA lawyers reviewing:

BBC Is a British media Britain is an ally to USA and a member of nato Roman Abrahamovic Is a Russian and an ally to Kremlin. BBC is trying hard to give him the anti-russia treatment but they won't succeed

Ban Chelski from football for 10 seasons

KieranMaguire Polonium for playing integrity.

Don_Farai heya ndomazvamunoita nhai😂

Relegation

Football, Corrupt, Fixed....... Nah!!!!! Wouldn't have thought that in a million years

Wouldn’t have mattered if he was guilty, CAS would have saved the day.

Journalists should be looking at our current government Cummings, Johnson et al. It'll be exactly the same. Shell accounts. Abramovich has added hugely to our economy and community. Has Cummings? Rees-mogg?

a 'wake up' call to everyone who supports & works for Chelsea football club .. see how crook your owner & the person you work for is .. supporting & funding illegal settlers (Elad) in West Bank & the Gaza Strip .. How can we allow this or our gov supports this is beyond belief..!

Who cares? Put an advert on it so we don't have to pay a TV license u crooks

Slippery Fucker. That’s what they do 🤷‍♂️😂😂😂

He’s a businessman 🤷🏽‍♂️

Yeah that's the main story here, not him paying millions to have Palestinians thrown out of their homes and given to settlers, breaking international law.

I basically thought it was a scam until I decided to give it a try with just little start up $600 and I got $3,000.00 in just 7days it was so amazing and everything worked out well TheCryptoDog0

UkMmitch lol

Not even welcome in this country and has still done more than most during Covid !! Absolute legend of a man !! 💙🤩😇

Interesting headline but didn’t he also get found to be funding groups that violate UN resolutions and fund illegal settlements in occupied territories of palestine on behalf of Israel? romanabramovic the certainly know how to suppress a story to make it irrelevant

😂

That a Russian oligarch who made his money by essentially robbing the people of his country could do something like this?! I'm shocked...

dan_k123

mrmoonshine89

Is he banned from the uk. Visa fraud and money laundering. Class act 💀

Excellent Panorama tonight well done.

Big Rom loves footballindex

lordofparis Wonder if Chelski won those matches

Was they any crime committed by him while doing so .

Shyster & a crook. CFC just a rich mans play thing ....

Who’d a thunk it? 😏

Non story, outlawed in the premiership, but not in Europe until 2015. The example the BBC use is 2014. Hidden agenda

FA question whether it's appropriate Hilarious

Chavski’s success during his ownership, will always be tainted. Not fit to run a football club with his corrupt money!

Points deducted

Breaking the rules again all your success is tainted LFC

Surprise Surprise.

Tipton21 You don’t get rich by being honest the majority of the money men/women in football are as crooked as a three Bob note,it’s the way the game runs and has done for years. He is no exception to the rule if real in depth investigations were done they would all be guilty.

Zain91007707 fraudy stuff

Geddy7777

Love how the do this showing him as huge bad guy without him actually coming any crime but they don’t mention how he did more than any club and any owner in the prem 🤣🤦‍♂️

Dodgy bastard

That is nature, no worries

BBCSport There's a shock 🤔🤔

I think it’s fair to strip them of every trophy they’ve won since his take over

The game is corrupt as hell

RuiPinto_FL

Deffo Petr Cech too.

Please read the content two times not just the header before you comment rubbish. It's english language. After all, the act was abolished in 2015 and it happened in 2014. So what ?

I for one am shocked to hear that Ambramovich may have been involved in shady dealings.

Now investigate Abdallah Lemsagam, the Oldham athletic owner

geniflo_LDN Fuck Abramovich did you not see the own our Prime Minister & Govt BorisJohnson ? Panorama Brexit Nigel_Farage & the £10m donation from 1 man with two names That’s how corrup this country has become!

This is a non story. It was allowed when it happened. It isn’t any more and so where is the scandal! What about loan players playing against their own club are they breaking the rules as well

A dishonest Russian, no way!

Cheats.

Not particularly surprised to be honest 😅 Chelsea’s whole history of success is purchased 😂

Russian criminal....

“Surprise surprise!” Said Cilla Black

Lee_Spence

So basically he done nothing wrong if this practice wasn’t banned till 2015 and this was carried out in 2014? Another pointless article by BBC 👍🏻

BBCSport

Taizviziva kuti matsotsi aya lol

Who gives a shit about that.

rival tears in the comments, you love to see it

Fking crook. Made for that despicable club.

*The investigative reporters*who are *behind FinCEN*should *themselves be investigated*in particular if *they made large bets against bank shares* in order to *profit*from *the release of this story*

Kepa transfer finally explained

Doesn’t matter. Just like MCFC he’ll hire lawyers to get his Club out of it.

My owner ❤️

Hahahaha. I like it! 🤣🤣

My Owner💙 Rival fans cry some more 🧂

TomGriffBC

Piss of shit called news, lmao 😂

Saw this on the Six O’Clock News. Sounds to me that the rules just need to be tightened and made more explicit to avoid potential conflicts of interest.

Broke no rules keep crying

Fit and Proper

It wasn’t against the law, why is this even in the news? defundBBC

Well I never. Who would have thought that he'd be involved in anything suspicious.

Lol Man city own 7 clubs in 4 different continents.

Corrupt Russian billionaire turns out to be a corrupt Russian billionaire.

They really don't want him in UK... Just after a day when the NHS showed their gratitude towards Chelsea generosity and commitment into helping the NHS combat covid 19 they had to throw dirt on his name.

Vermin

This is why Chelsea football club can never be respected under its current owner. A club financed with illegal blood money.

Big money in betting, interests in both camps is a dream made in heaven unless you’re caught out

How this shady Russian oligarch who is an 'associate' of the ultra corrupt and criminal murderer Putin can be considered a 'fit and proper' owner of a PL Club is beyond me. Funny how he was involved when Russia were 'surprisingly' awarded the 2018 World Cup ahead of England...

People getting angry because he played by the rules

This guy.💙

We being saying this for yrs dirty money

Could Manchester city owners be perhaps in breach, as they own not just 6-7 football teams but hundreds of players and even use them as feeder clubs to the bigger teams.

What a non story. Philippe Coutinho played this season for Bayern Munich against Barcelona, when he was owned by Barcelona. 3rd party ownership (banned in 2015) was seen as a kind of slavery and was evident in the transfers of Tevez and Mascherano from Brazil to West Ham.

8D money making chess.

Rich robbing cock,

Key fact “ THE PRACTICE WAS BANNED IN ENGLAND IN 2008 BUT NOT INTERNATIONALLY UNTIL 2015 “

Chukotka Stealers cheating again?

Why aren’t you focusing on the good things he’s done the past few months?

SDurning1 Shocked. Shocked I tell you.

Oh those Russians🙄

Vardarov94 KGB fc

TaintlessRed Oh hello

BBCSport A bit like former directors and investors in Man Utd running FA, PGMOL and on UEFA committee. Obvious conflict of interest in wanting return on investment via qualifying for champions league and being impartial. But there are no rules against it.

Abramovic destroyed any fair play rule was possible, and yet, there are fans that defend him. So sad, especially for English football.

BBCSport People seem to forget that 3rd party ownership was still allowed by fifa when supposed player played against Chelsea in a non premier league game.

Yet they keep calling city oil club while there's this fraud in the league.

Blimey who would have thought given that no record of any money laundering checks exist for his Stamford bridge purchase. Gosh

hughwizzy

The World football governing body, Fifa will have to open its own investigation and look into all of these allegations as contained in the leak documents soonest to safe the game from shady dealings. Roman Abramovich's spokeswoman is only standing on a sinking moral ground.

BBCSport Abramovich being dodgy .... no way ....😁

Whoever would've guessed that Putin's mate who made his fortunes off the dead bodies of Russian people would be dodgy.

You don't become that rich without being a cut-throat, cold, manipulative, calculated, criminal. Enjoy Chelsea.

danroan Seanie_90

Again, behold my shock:

BBCSport Why is anyone surprised Russian crook is a crook chelsea without Abramovich are West Ham

He most probably fixed a few matches too to win games and lift trophies. You never know. Money talks.

He's just a money magnet.

It was allowed. Move on and stop crying.

danroan Steadfosho 👀👀👀👀

In other news, water is wet... 😅

Glenlived Good Grief!

“Footballer not owned by his club”? Do the BBC think footballers are slaves, owned by the clubs?

Such a cheeky little fellow.
