1: The clauses can only be used as a 'break the glass emergency' & implemented in a specific way only if the EU 'break the law 1st'. 2: The law is being broken by legislating the clauses in the 1st instance. Is that were we are at? I am confused you see.

The only POSSIBLE reason I can fathom for why UK lawmakers INSIST on pursuing Brexit is there’s a plot in place to destroy the EU - and the UK exit is believed will protect them from the fallout. But that’s a lot to bet on a plot that could still very easily fail.
Reputation is hardly the biggest concern. It risks the UK's existence as presently constituted.
