Opinion: We need a mother to moderate the next debate

Jim Watson/AFP via Getty Imagesfilled with yelling, constant interruptions, and unintelligible cross-talk.

We need a grown-up in the room — and studies show that women's participation in peace negotiations leads to more successful outcomes.Thirty minutes into the exchange between President Trump and Democratic candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden, I fell asleep on the sofa, a pile of unfolded laundry at my feet.

I imagine mothers across America, if not passed out from exhaustion, poised on the edge of their seat, all but jumping through their TV screen to intervene just as we would if we witnessed a squabble in a sandbox. It made me think: Next debate, we ought to hand the job of moderator over to a mother — assuming there's one out there with some room on her plate. Temper tantrums. Not listening. Poor impulse control.

🙋‍♀️ mom moderator

How about we expect candidates to act like adults? Why are women expected to shoulder the burden to enforce basic decency?

What? How about insisting upon compliance with the RULES?

A great idea, but I still think it needs SamuelLJackson

TDS. “while Trump lobbed unfounded accusations and made-up statistics”

How To Stay Safe During A Pandemic? Wear a mask! Stay away from dumb-ss Republicans, GOP, and Trump! Oh, and wash your hands multiple times per day because those dumb-sses are everywhere touching stuff. It's that simple!

Be careful Americans, Tellin' Lies Trump and GOP-Republicans have been habitual liars without a modicum of shame, integrity, or ethics. This could be a hoax to fool Americans into accepting a risky drug. More American lives may be toyed with by Demagogue Donald's Fake Sickness.

We want Anne Robinson

Should be available to independent voters who have no affiliations to both parties and can ask hard questions. I am available .

Or someone with balls, Chris wallace tried but he's a pussy.

A debate is not a negotiation.

Thank you for this utterly meaningless fluff.

Nah your headline in my opinion is not appropriate for the level of seriousness of what is a stake. 70ish yr old individual with over 300 million folks responsibility on his hands should been able to behave in proper manner, but here we are with the press doing silly headlines.

LWV

Wtf, just put someone who is capable of the job. Not a mother or father or something. Someone who does his/her job and doesn't try to get all the attention.

... next debate?

Nobody gives a crap about your opinion article. We need an objective media, but that’s not gonna happen, so there’s that.

I thought a moderator was only supposed to ask questions?

We need a mother to run the country.
