Finance Minister Mathias Cormann says the Morrison government has stepped in to boost numbers with a new $1.2 billion apprentice job scheme, as industry trainee positions continue to drop. The program will subsidize half the salary of apprentices and trainees in any industry for one year at up to $7,000 per quarter. Mr Cormann described the new program as a “very significant measure” which will make a big difference for businesses in hospitality and construction.
