Colleges spend crazy amounts on money partially because of federal loose lending. Forgiveness will only exacerbate this issue.
How about none? I paid off my student loans! Let these irresponsible people who went to schools that cost $50k a year deal with the deals they made.

My siblings and I paid our loans in full over a number of years. It’s not novel it’s how it’s supposed to be but instead it’s traded for votes these days.
Take out a loan, pay back a loan. Pretty simple.

How about firing half of all administrators, cutting the salaries of the rest by at least 1/3, and using the savings to reduce tuition?
Shouldn’t the likelihood of repayment be assessed before loans are granted ? Plenty of fault on the lender here...
Reduce the headcount of administration would be a good place to start. Make tenured professors more accountable for their work. Trim programs that have very low attendance.

Hint- The more the Gov gives students, The more colleges charge? ie with no accountability with what the students owe? ie success or failure does not matter to the colleges?
Zero student debt should be forgiven, you take out a loan, you should repay it. Other taxpayers that did not benefit should not be forced to pay.
Why shouldn’t any of it be forgiven ? Be responsible. Own your adult decisions. My kids made wise choices and now gainfully employed and with no debt. Where’s their free money ? Why do they pay a “responsible graduate” tax ?
