There’s no question the continued lockdown in Victoria is having a very negative impact on the economy nationally, according to the outgoing Finance Minister Mathias Cormann. On Sunday Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews announced he has extended the State of Emergency and the State of Disaster by another four weeks. "I've just signed paperwork to extend the state of emergency and the state of disaster from tonight to 11:59pm on November 8," Mr Andrews said.
Mr Cormann told Sky News the continued lockdown is having "an extremely negative impact" in the state and an "material negative impact nationally". He said in the rest of Australia "the economy has been recovering". "Businesses have been recovering, activity has been growing again, has been starting to grow again. "Jobs have been recovered.
